The president who championed a leftist revival across Latin America has passed away.  President Hugo Chavez died of cancer, he had struggled with for two years.   He was a very powerful man who controlled United Socialist Party of Venezuela is leaving thousands to mourn in his memory.

According to MyFoxChicago.com, Chavez used his country's vast oil wealth to launch social programs that include state-run food markets, new public housing, free health clinics and education programs.  He also cared very much for impoverished citizens, most who learned how to combat poverty under his leadership.

President Hugo Chavez was only 58 years old.  May he rest in peace.
